Layered tiers of different hues underfoot portray different planes of existence through which the hallowed figure travels, forming, with each step of his descent, an oath-bound entourage of divine helpers. As the descent progresses, once-pure crystalline skies give way to darkness and heaviness as the earthly world is neared. Basic to Falun Gong is a belief that the universe is fundamentally good, and populated by beings endowed with numinous qualities.
